Poison by intravenous route. Moderately toxic by ingestion and possibly other routes. Questionable carcinogen with experimental carcinogenic and tumorigenic data. An irritant. A pesticide. See also CHLOROPHENOLS. When heated to decomposition 2,4-Dichlorophenyl benzenesulfonate (CAS NO.97-16-5) emits very toxic fumes of Cl− and SOx.
