Poison by intravenous, intramuscular, and intraperitoneal routes. Moderately toxic by ingestion. Human systemic effects by intravenous route: coma, blood pressure increase, bronchiolar constriction and cyanosis. Used as a cholinesterase reactivator. When heated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumes of Cl and NOx.
