Moderately toxic by ingestion, intraperitoneal, and intravenous routes. Human systemic effects by ingestion: hemolysis with or without anemia, ulceration or bleeding from large intestine, cholestatic jaundice. Human teratogenic effects by ingestion: fetal death. Human reproductive effects by ingestion and possibly other routes: stillbirth, reduced viability and abnormal characteristics of newborn at birth. An experimental teratogen. Experimental reproductive effects. Mutation data reported. An antidiabetic agent.
