SAFETY PROFILE:
Dangerous when exposed to heat or flame. The violent reaction of Fe2O3 + Al is typical of a series of the oxide-metal “thermite” reactions. They are very difficult to stop, as they supply their own oxygen. They may attain a temperature of about 2500°. The presence of manganese dioxide may cause explosions.
